Symantec Endpoint protection – SEM uninstall password help

August 3rd, 2013

Hi Guys,
I need help in getting rid of the Symantec Endpoint protection installed on my machine.
However when i try to uninstall, it prompts for a password. I do not know the password.
I have tried a couple of removal tools from the symantec website.
Please help..

Answer #1
No idea what to tell you, I would never install the Symantec Virus on my computer.
Boot to a live CD and remove it =D
Answer #2
Search Google for NoNav – it will remove all Symantec & Norton products (they took it off their own site)
Symantec Corporate AV is a much better solution – however it is now end of life, but definitions still update – I’ve used it for years with no problems, and is not a resource hog.

Answer #7
How about in safe-mode? Have you tried it?
Answer #8
Yes tried it in the safe mode as well. It keeps asking for a password – which i dont know.
Answer #9
Follow this:
Navigate to
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\AV\AdministratorOnly\Security
If UseVPUninstallPassword is 0 it means that the password is disabled.
If UseVPUninstallPassword is 1 it means that the password is Enabled.

this is for older versions of SEP, it does not work for SEPM 11 and above. I need to use cleanwipe from symantec. Thanks for all your help guys.
