Switching to HDMI cable on PC?

May 24th, 2021

How do I do this and is my video card appropriate to? I don’t think it is because the cable is plugged in on both sides.
It is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Version: 9.18.13.3523
How new is this card?

Answer #1
Yes, you can connect an HDMI cable from the back of your graphics card (which is at the back of your case) to your monitor. Afterwards, remove the old cable attached to your monitor and graphics card and you will be set. The graphics card you currently are using is about 2 years old; it’s still considered to be a fairly new graphics card.

mHDMI
think this means mini hdmi connection. So a standard HDMI connect would not work.
Do you have HDMI ready system?
you would need mini hdmi cable to the back of your video card, don’t know what connection is available at the other end

Do I fiddle with the actual graphics card itself in the PC? I hooked in the HDMI cord itself to both sides and the monitor does not recognize it. I checked the card’s website and it says it is HD ready. I also tried a different HDMI cord from the PC to my TV and that didn’t show a picture on it ether.

Hmph, it would seem after further inspection on your card that it does NOT have an HDMI connection (most GPUs do have HDMI)
This would mean that you need a HDMI to mHDMI connector for you to be able connect your PC to monitor. If your monitor does support mHDMI, then you would need a mHDMI cable for it to work.
You should not need to fiddle with the graphics card in the PC.

My monitor is new so do I need only a mHDMI, or the connector as well? I am little confused by the two sentences. Could you give a link to one I would need please?

I’m a bit curious here…If you had a mini hdmi socket on your card, then surely a standard hdmi would not fit?

It would appear to have display port and hdmi..
A cable with mini hdmi on one end for the card and normal hdmi on the other for the monitor should do the trick.
(assuming that your card has mini hdmi….Different manufacturers can provide different connections.)
There may be a button on your monitor to switch the input..
Answer #10
There is. Do you mean i plug it into the card itself or the back of the PC? because I think I have seen pics where you can hook the cable to the card but I am not sure.
Answer #11
You suppose to plug everything to your card. If you plug it to your pc then the graphic card is useless.
Plug it into you card and use the switch on your monitor. Usually the input button.

I don’t think mine has one then. How do I attach the HDMI with the PC case on?
Answer #13
On the back pa of your PC you should see something similar to this…

Circled in Red is the HDMI port, Green is VGA, and Blue is DVI…
This is an Asus GTX-650, other brands may have different ports…

in the back of your case, the video card connections will be visible.

I browse a lots of pic on GTX 650 which you have. They all have an HDMI port so look at those pictures above. Its just a plug and play. Its not hard to plug in a cable with the right size.
You plug it into yours video card NOT your computer motherboard. If you plug it into your computer motherboard then you are using your cpu graphic card not the GTX 650.
I have a very similar monitor. There is an input button. Click it and go into the HDMI chan.
Answer #16
Yes, as said, the card plugs into the mother board and it’s connections poke out of the rear pa, you don’t have to remove any covers!
Is this a new PC or monitor or vidoe card ? Have things been working before with a different monitor or set up?
