[SOLVED]Unable to install Windows XP on a Toshiba Qosmio F50
January 22nd, 2020
The problem is not SATA. On the Toshiba website there is no support for XP.
When I put a XP disk into the computer and the computer loads it, at the moment where a SATA computer usually says there is no hdd (when XP does not have the SATA drivers integrated), I don’t get that message. I get a BSOD. There is nothing in BIOS that can turn SCSI into IDE (like on DELL notebooks). There is also no BIOS update. There is no help on google. I have tried with three different WIN XP’s SP2 and one SP3. If you have any links for me to download a “crazy, almighty” version of XP, I’m open for suggestions.
Last time, when I was having problems, I was helped pretty fast on this forum.
I know I will be helped again. Thank you guys.
Update: I found something that might help.
A Toshiba XP SP3. I don’t have a premium account (it’s not RS so it’s gonna take forever.

It seems I have to give up. The Toshiba XP SP3 that is available on does not help.
Google does not offer any solutions. The Toshiba support also isn’t helping.
Microsoft must have paid a fortune to manufacturers to force people to use the ~ Lovely ~ windows vista.
Unfortunately there are many Vista only computers that do not support XP. This means that no drivers are available for some of the hardware. If you can’t download ALL the hardware drivers then you are stuck with Vista.
You are always best downloading all the drivers first before you attempt to install XP on a Vista delivered computer.
I’m kind of a headstrong user. I never give up. I would never stop looking for those drivers.
Once I used Asus drivers for a HP notebook (same Vista problem).
The problem is, in order to find drivers, I must get XP on the notebook and that is right now not possible.
Why you want to downgrade? Stick with Vista if is thats what the laptop has been built for. As long as you got dual core and 2GB of ram Vista will run fine. If the manufacturer doesnt release drivers for its laptop that are compatible with XP where your going to get them? You have to accept the fact XP has been taken of the shelves they dont make new copies of it anymore so it wont be supported much with new computers. And if you hate Vista just get linux.
Most manufacturers are cutting away from the XP trend (except the mini-lappys) and going for vista. YOu wont find much of a chance looking for XP drivers
Download a copy of XP with driver packs integrated such as the latest version of TinyXP. It would at least let you install XP on your laptop and hopefully install the correct drivers for the ethernet. The rest you’ll need to do some careful hunting with Everest and Google
@jeebus
The main reason I want to get rid of Vista is about 30% less lasting batteries (even on basic UI).
The second reason is that Vista is slower. It will always be. I can’t speak for every computer, but for the last 3 I have changed in 2 years.
Vista is not faster, it’s not safer (for me), it does not improve my working or gaming abilities. I simply don’t need it as it is making me slower when using or giving remote assistance, when working or gaming. It’s a pain in the ass.
I don’t use linux as I don’t use the OSX.

Thx. I’ll try Tiny XP. Later this day I’ll integrate Intel chipset drivers into Win XP.
Hope It works.
Yea…it’s not possible…My laptop came with vista ultimate 32 bit…Now i have a dual boot..XP and vista ultimate 64 bit…
As ^|^ mentioned..A windows XP with driver packs integrated is a good idea…and bit of hunting if it misses a few drives…There are a few forums out there that will give driver link for a specific laptop and even include tutorials how to install…
The Tiny XP did not work. , any suggestions (links)? Thx.
This one will install almost all the drvers for you…but it’s about 4 GB..
