[Solved] Making a Blackberry MY Blackberry…
August 5th, 2016
Are you referring to the sim card? My blackberry doesn’t take a sim card but does take a micro sd card. Which one are you referring to?
I was referring to a sim card.
Maybe the phone is too old to use newer sim card? What is the BB? Cingular? At&T?
I have a different carrier than you but when I wanted to change over to a BB, they swapped my simcard into the BB to see if my plan would need to change and the BB didn’t work (no phone, no internet, no texting….nothing). They said the simcard + phone needed to be activated b/c the BB required a “different PDA Phone Package” than I had. They wouldn’t work with me on my contract (wanted to charge me a cancellation and reactivation fees) so I didn’t get it, but think it was a BB Curve 8300. I went back after the regional manager said they would honor with my current contract, they put my card into the new BB Curve 8900, and the talking/texting (my previous plan) worked, but internet and data stuff did not even show up (ie no visible icons to even click on even though I had a data plan with my previous phone). They changed stuff around on my simcard with the computer to the “BB Package” and voila all the BB features worked.
Cliff notes: your card may need to be “activated” to use the BB. I’m not saying that I know this for sure, but just saying mine had to be changed up.
My friend had a brand new bb curve (AT&T) and it broke so he go a 2-3 year old bb (dont know the model) it was a cingular and he said that he just put his sim card in and it worked…

I think that is the best solution – I’ll try that and if it works then great, if not… oh well – it’s the round file… Thanks!
