[SOLVED] BlackBerry Bold 9000 – Lost password, need help

My nephew recently received a BlackBerry Bold 9000 from his friend, that was not using it for the last few months.
The problem is that his friend put a password on it, and let my nephew know of the password.
My nephew tried the password, and it didn’t work
Now, we are looking for a way to get past that hurdle.
Any ideas, from people experienced in the field would be highly appreciated!

You would have to take it to the carrier (service provider)
and have em handle it or you can keep on entering
incorrect passwords and all information on it will be
deleted (after 10th time)

The service provider will charge for “handling” it.
We’re looking for the free alternative So you say that of we stuff up the password 10 times, all information will be deleted?
How would we start the phone after that then?

Not all,Just the personal information (contacts,call & text history)
the OS will remain and it’d still be usable.

I will tell him that we should do what you advised.
However, if God forbid, something were to go terribly wrong, and he has barred himself from the BB as a repercussion of the instructions you gave, is there a Plan B to follow?
I’m not saying there will be, I am just being extra cautious…

@ i have done this many times where i work you have nothing to worry about at all you will not be barred it will just do a factory reset on the phone

I must add though, when I was first asked for the pin, it showed 6/10.
I was wrapt that I didn’t have to go through the whole 10 times.
LoL, little did I know that despite it showing 6/10, I had to do much more than that. I guess it was 10 tries after all.
