[SOLVED] How to fix corrupt registry~ Folders are not allowed ~ VISTA PROBLEM

Hey all i have yet another problem, with vista
it seems that every time i boot up, vista gives me an error before getting to logon screen in just black and white saying
\windows\system32\config\system is corrupt and such
how do i fix this, can any one please help so that i dont have to constantly go back and forward to the install disc!

This is for Windows XP, but I would think they have the same way to fix the problem.

no i don’t think as vista uses a .wim file to store some of the files, so i don’t know if i can but i’ll try thanks

Boot from your vista DVD , Get into command prompt,See here

then do chkdsk /r /f c: and hit enter , Let it do its thing til it finishes , Restart after it’s done , If it won’t work from some reason then try system restore , Do note that this issue could be an indication to an HDD problem , I would highly recommend using the brand’s diagnostic tool just to be on safe side
