[SOLVED] getting a win 95 game to play on windows 7

August 4th, 2016

hello, I have the old risk game that is for windows 95, but due to the age of the game windows 7 doesn’t support it and I installed XP under virtual box and the version of XP didn’t support the ’95 game. I am downloading an .iso of ’95 now, but was wondering if there may be another way to get it to work?
Answer #1
try to run it with Win 95 compatibility.
Right click the icon, chose options, go to the compatibility tab and chose windows 95 in the list. If it is in the list, it is there in vista, maybe they deleted it in win7.
Answer #2
use an emulator or use vmware and virtualy install windows 95
Answer #3
if the games is a dos game try dosbox – it works perfect.
Answer #4
well the problem is windows 7 or XP wont even let me install the game
i know about the compatibility, but can you install a game in compatabilty mode? i have never had to do that, just run under compatability
Answer #5
I would just run it under a Virtual PC (as Win 95)
Answer #6
Well you could right click on the file that is used to install the game (setup.exe) and put that into compatibility mode..Dunno if it would work!
Answer #7
Oh geeze you guys were right! I didn’t think you could install things under compatibility mode because I have never had to install under it, only run applications under compatibility mode..
Got it installed and working now! THANK YOU GUYS
