friend’s bought her daughter a video player ( looks lot like ipod video and same size screen) i don’t know what the resolution is of the screen it just sez 1.8 65,000 colours and has a 8 gig storage and it’s one of them no name make’s.
so my questions.
1) what you you say as the the best way of shrinking the size of a film e.g. from 600mb to 300mb.
2) what resolution and bit rate.
3) what format, now it only said mp4 on the box would you think it would play other formats.
4) anything you want to add if i missed summit important.
thank you and merry christmas to you all.

Try this prog for converting:

Choose mp4 format and some lower bitrate. Under 500 i think.. but try yourself, i haven’t used mp4 players…
And if it says mp4 then it is probably mp4 only.
And merry christmas for you too

1.8 65,000 colours
1.8 (16:9) is the aspect ratio (tv is 1.33 or 4:3)
65,000 is colors and = 16 bit (32bit is 16 million colors)
try the app listed above and set it to 16 bit color (saves space) and try 200-300 bitrate (think it will be ok based on less colors)
try 20% of original to start for you resolution (640×260) = (128×52)
go up from there till you like the quality
you also might want to consider making movies above the 1.8 aspect 1.8 by cropping the sides for that small screen as long as your recoding anyway – (640×260) = (128×52) = (94×52)
get the width by multiplying the height by 1.8 and I think “TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress” will code in MP4 format
search appx section for “xpress”
