Server pc question

July 25th, 2013

Hello, i am interested in networking so for fun i installed a software that is used on internet cafe’s, just for my pc which runs as the server , and my parents that run as client….
now my pc isnt that great, just 2gbs of ram and a satisfying dual core! Now how much does this client pc, effect my server pc in matter of performance?
The more the client is used, the more my pc suffers in performance?

I don’t quite understand your question.
Perhaps some Googling would help you at this point.
Server’s receive the input sent by clients as well as send the response to the clients.
Clients just send commands to the server and receives responses sent by the server.
So if your client is requesting more information than the server can process things will come to a halt.

A lot of it is dependant on how the software is written. Some software is designed to be server heavy and some are designed to be client heavy. If all your server is doing is maintaining a list of rules that the client can or can not do, than it is probably not taking up much CPU power. But if it is acting as a proxy and downloading all the internet sites and caching them and filtering live websites and such, than it is probably pretty intesive on the server load. The only true way to find out is to put up some performance monitors and simulate a load on the client and see what the PerfMons say.
