Secondary HDD not showing?
August 8th, 2016
It could be a lose connection..
First check if detected in the bios..If it is..Once in Windows..Check drive management..
most probable reason you couldnt connect it properly , did you check the power cable if it is properly connected ?
also connect ssd to first sata slot and normal drive to second , numbering method differs among motherboards but generally first slot numbered as sata 0_0 where second is sata 0_1 or sata 1_0 and it goes like that. you probably saw the general windows drivers for harddrive on device manager.
if drive shows up on the bios like said and you confirm that all your connections are proper. disable “hide empty drives” from folder options as a last resort.
here is to do how.

this option only works if drive is recognized on disk management and not showing up in my computer. to run disk management. write diskmgmt.msc to windows start menu search box and run it.
You need to partition and format it in Disk Management and it should then allocate itself a drive letter..
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-format-hard-disk-partition#create-format-hard-disk-partition=windows-7
(You can normally make it into just one primary partition that uses up all the space or two or more primary partitions if you wish.)

I checked device manager and I see that the hard drive is installed and working properly.
You mean the hard drive you’ve been using, or the one you just hooked up for secondary storage? If it’s an older IDE HDD instead of SATA you might need to check the jumper pin position.
ah yes , if you just bought harddrive and it has totally unallocated and raw sectors , it doesnt show up. i assumed the disk was formatted.
along with other tutorials here 1 more for you http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2674-partition-volume-create-new.html
use the option 1 and start from step 2. since your harddrive will be totally raw you will see all of it will be unallocated unlike the screen shot of step 4. rest will be same , remember maximizing simple volume size on step 7 .

actually there is an easier way of doing this , by disabling “hide empty drives” like i said on my previous post then raw harddrive should show up in my computer where you will be 1 step away from using it , just right clicking and formatting it. but first method is more reliable so use it. i told this in case you fail with it.
Problem is that it was unallocated. Got it fixed with disk management.
Thanks.
