I’m not sure for SD cards but as I know that is almost the same like Usb or Hdd, so rather than format I would erase partition and make a new one. I did that with Usb without any problems and I used Easeus partition master. Here is some tutorial to do that with Mini tool partition wizard:

Eraser has free space wipe functionality (and maybe drive wipe, I forget), and you can customise which wipe pattern to use.
You could use the Drive Wiper in CCleaner.
Can be set for 3 or more passes.
Anyone know of an app that can securely erase a SD card please. Not just format but like maybe 3 overwrites.
