Hello,
I am opening this thread to find out the solution to remove scratches on Glossy Surfaces such as the new XBOX 360 Slim which comprises a black glossy surface.
Thank you.

You could try something like acrylic watch glass polish, it’s expensive, and you don’t get much in a tube.

When I worked in aviation, we used a Micro Mesh kit to remove scratches off surfaces. I am sure you can Google it right up. Not exactly sure if this will work for your application, but you can check it out…

Thanks for the comprehensive suggestions. However, would like to find out whether there is any tested solution to remove scratches on the glossy surface of the xbox. Really appreciate your replies.

Cut and polish as used on cars is the go..

It depends upon how deep the scratches are and what the XBox is made from. If it’s a plastic then it shouldn’t be too difficult unless there is some form of coating on the plastic but you might be able to tell that from the scratches and whether there is a different colour showing in a scratch.
If there is a different colour showing then polishing could destroy the finish and it might be best left alone.
If the scratch is fairly deep then using some wet and dry paper would speed things up. Using P1500 for deep scratches and higher Grit (P2000, P2500 & P3000) when the scratch has been reduced. Keep it as close to the scratch as you can using a tiny piece or you will add scratches to it. Finally use an mildly abrasive polish such as Brasso to finish off the job. It will take a great deal of effort to restore the shine. Using a low speed drill with a polishing mop would speed it up if you add some Brasso to the mop. Keep it moving because you don’t want it to heat up due to friction!
If you can test the effect on an unseen section or inside the cover it would be beneficial to see how it reacts.
Add to the above lots of elbow grease.

Try one of the kits for polishing the clear plastic headlight lenses for automobiles. They have a multi-stage sanding kit with water based polishing compound and a final finishing polish specifically made for plastic.

Once again, thank you for your replies. The scratch are light user marks. They are not deep scratches. Looking for more safe or tested solutions (on similar surfaces) which product would be available in major hypermarkets around the globe.

Hi, I used to remove scratches from CD’s & DVD’s with Brasso Metal Polish. Now I’ve got a gimmick which is supposed to do the job. It’s got a handle on top and some sort of grinding solution in a bottle. I use portable hard drives now, so never used it.
