Removing an Introduction of a Song

August 5th, 2016

Those of you who appreciate good music will know the song American Woman by the Guess Who. It’s an excellent song, but with a really tedious 1:15-long introduction which I would like to remove.
I know that in iTunes it is possible to define a starting-point for a song; however I use Winamp (and won’t change), and, as much as I have tried, it doesn’t appear to be possible with that.
If anyone knows of a program or method of removing the initial one minute and fifteen seconds of the song, I’d be very interested in hearing.
Thanks a bunch.

What format is it in? Any sound editor could do it if it’s a standard format. I like Sound Forge.
Answer #2
The file is an .mp3.
Answer #3
Run it through Wavepad mate, easy and free.
Answer #4
I used WavePad and it worked fine, but it reduced the quality from 320kbps to 128 kbps. Oh well. Thanks a lot.
Answer #5
Lol, you can select the quality with File -> Save As, no problem
Answer #6
Ah, I just pressed the little Save icon :/.
Answer #7
You can try AudaCity too, it’s free with many capabilities

Answer #8
you just have to crop the song down not to hard most audio editors will let you do that.
Answer #9
Send it to me with a precise instruction as to where you’d like it cut.
I dont do rubbish quality. It’ll be identical, just shorter.

I personally use an awesome program called Goldwave to edit mp3 and other audio files. It’s easy to use and great for trimming songs.

I redownloaded the song and tried this, but there’s nowhere to define the quality in File > Save As in Wavepad.

I’ll take you up on that, thanks a lot.

Use Audacity, it’s the simplest way to do it. A 2mb program, and all you need is to dl lame_enc.dll to export as mp3.
Just play the song and find the part where you want the song to start. Then just highlight the part you want to delete and press delete. It also exports it perfect quality as well, as you can see it’s same as the original.
I did it for you, awesome song. I love share the land by the guess who also.

Thanks so much for the effort =); I downloaded as a free user. Unfortunately, the quality is 128kbps; whereas I’m looking to preserve the 320kbps quality the file was in originally. I do appreciate the effort anyway; thank you again.

I used Adobe Audition and will pm the link to you in a couple of minutes when u/l completes. I avoided the temptation to master the track, left everything ‘as was’ except the duration. Verified quality as identical.
