Really weird dumb question
August 25th, 2013
I pu my video camera on a tripod, and hook it up so that it will play to the tv. I face the camera at the tv and record, but at the same time what i am recording is playing on the tv. So im guessing its going to create so kind of weird infinite loop of the tv playing on the tv playing on the tv playing on the tv…. can someone help me find some information on this, articles explaining what happens, video, anything
Thanks guys
yeah….that’d just record the tv….recording the tv….recording the tv etc.
Doubt anything would happen….expect maybe some image lag….
Why exactly are you doing this?
You will be a victim of the dreaded Video Feedback !

The world will implode!!
No, actually, it’s about the same as the hall of mirrors from doom levels, or IRL having two mirrors in front of each other.
You hit the limits of the sensor (effectively the sensor within the image within the sensor, and so on) – depending on the camera and sensor quality it could be two images deep or 6-8, probably not much more than that before you stop seing any detail.
It’s as simple (or as complicated lol) as this

Say hi to Sir Isaac!
Just think about what happens.. camera’s facing the TV; all connections set up, you turn the camera on, it’ll see a TV with a black screen, because it hasn’t sent anything to the TV yet. That image is going to appear on the TV: An image of a TV showing a black screen. Now, your camera makes another frame, it sees the room with the TV; and on the TV; a TV displaying a black frame. The camera sends this to the TV, now you have a TV displaying a TV that displays a TV with a black frame. etc etc
At some point, the “picture within the picture” is too small to capture or to display, then the perceived “loop” will stop.
In theory, there’s an infinte loop yes..
But don’t worry, the universe is not going to stackoverflow
i know what would happen and what i would expect, i just couldnt find that specifically on google, i wasnt really sure what it was called. i knew it would just create an infinite loop. Thanks for the links
