Rapidshare messes with my WiFi

September 4th, 2013

Hello.
For some annoying reason my wifi doesn’t like Rapidshare. Everytime I try downloading something with my rapidshare account, the Wifi stops working and I have to reset the router. If I use a cable there is (almost) no problem. I have a Hotfile and a FileSonic account too, but there is no problem with those.
I don’t have any clue what to make rapidshare work probably.
Any help?

Answer #1
Are there any Firmware Updates for your router? Could be a possible solution.
Is it possible to connect your computer via ethernet temporarily for testing purposes.
Answer #2
The firmware was just update some weeks ago. Yes I can connect via ethernet.
Answer #3
Does your connection fail with the ethernet cable? (when downloading from Rapidshare) or is the problem just isolated to the WIFI connection.
How about drivers for your wifi device. Are they up to date.
What WIFI security are you using? WEP – WPA – None?
It’s bound to be something small thing like that.
Answer #4
The problem is just isolated to the Wifi. As I wrote, there is (almost) never problems with the ethernet. I use a WEP encryption. I also tried with WPA2,
Answer #5
OK, have you tried changing the WIFI Channel ?
Answer #6
No never. What will that do? And should I change is to something special?
Answer #7
It’s a long shot, but someone else in your area might also be using the same channel as you so it may be causing some interference on yours.
Errrmmm… Any different channel should do. Lets say, if your on channel 2 – go up to channel 8 or something.
Answer #8
Okay thanks. Will try it out.
Answer #9
Tried it. Didn’t work. After downloading about 200 mb, the connection is lost.
Answer #10
Mmmmm… I’m honestly out of ideas now.
If the problem is just with Rapidshare, then only thing I can suggest is stay away from downloading directly from Rapidshare.
Instead of renewing your premium account with them, get an account with real-debrid, and then you’ll be able to download from rapidshare + many more… but from Real-Debrids servers, NOT RAPIDSHARE.
It’s the only solution that I can think of at the moment.
It might not be a practical one, I know that you’ll be set in your own ways. I’m like that myself
Answer #11
Okay. Thanks for the help anyways
Answer #12
Download Inssider, and see if your neighbours are causing interference on the same channel you are using

Most routers are factory set at 1,6, or 11 – as Ashleyuk1984 has suggested try a different channel that nobody else is using close by that works well for you.
Also note – that near Xmas there is loads of interference on the wi-fi channels caused by crap fairy lights and electric Xmas decorations.
