By different folders, you mean they are no longer in C:\users ?

Have you tried to boot from a Pre-installation enviroment (WindowsPE) and transfer the files you need to a new location ?
Maybe you are using a different user.
When you see the hidden folders on C:\Users you see several users. What is the one you are using ? Do you find your previous user ?
Answer #10
When i go to start, my computer ,local c, a page come says these files are hidden. This folder contain files that keep your system working properly. You should not modify its contents. Than under it says show content of this folder click on that. Than go to document and setting and i see adminstrator, all user, temp, user seem i like computer is login in all user but the stuff i want is in user folder.

Answer #12
Try viewing hidden files.. and recheck if files are found
Answer #13
It wont let check the box for hidden files it keep changing back also.
Whole hard drive 74gb I try to back up just user folder it was 60gb when I started the back up and got up today. And it look like it was done it only show 55gb on my external hard drive do that mean it did not back up everything.
Answer #14
please open up CMD
and navigate to desktop folder
use this command
attrib *.* -r -a -s -h /s /d
make sure you do not use it on a folder with system files, only to unhide items which are grayed out on hidden..
there is a known worm affecting computers and USBs which changes attributes of files to hidden plus grayed it out.. I’ve met over 10 in the last year.
If this issue happens again, I would recommend running another virus scan with another AV.
