Promote Market Website

How do I promote market my website, its been online for a while and Im just getting no hits maybe 1 -2 hits a day. I signed up for google analtical and the google webmaster tools but still nothing! I m not sure how promote or what sites i need to advertise through. Im Industrial Designer do a little bit of freelancing how do I increase traffic to my site, willing to invest a little $ into this

No hits huh? Your certainly not gonna attend MTV’s VMA this year, I can tell you this much!
On a more serious note, You should do some research about SEO (Search engine optimization)
You could also make a banner and advertise on adsense/adbrite and the like.

Using social networks (like Facebook) is also a good option to promote your website.
