Play PS3 On My Laptop
November 30th, 2017
I have a Dell Studio XPS 16. It has a HDMI port on the side. Which, according to Dell Technical Support, can be used for input and output. I have connected my PS3 to my computer via HDMI cable. How would I get the PS3 to display on my laptops screen?
Thanks,
.
Impossible. I’m sorry. The HDMI port is there to connect your laptop to a screen such as a TV. You can’t plug your xbox, ps3, wii etc.
But you can download the games on your computer.

I would rather just play the PS3. It’s not that much of an issue, I just thought if it’s possible it would be handy sometimes.
How would the HDMI port be used for input then? I don’t really understand why it can’t be done if it’s a port that’s capable of input and output.

tbh i never heard of HDMI ports that work on both directions. They are either input or output, not both at the same time
Answer #4
Dell told you a lie D: it can’t be used as input, sorry.

Okay thanks guys. I’m a bit disappointed with Dell now.
To be honest I started to wonder why it wasn’t working.
I’ve used it to make my laptop display on my tv. But I wanted to try this out.
Thread closed I guess.
