Photo,Video back up from phone software

this is for a friend as i would just take the sd card out copy but this is too technical for him lol
what I am looking for is some software that as soon as the usb cable is plugged in it will allow a back up to be made
picassa does this by scanning all media but need one that’s stand alone, is there one?
