Best paid photo recovery software?

April 14th, 2014

I accidentally deleted some pics from Nikon d70 a long time ago and I was wondering if there was any way I can recover them? What software is the absolute best and easiest way to recover the lost photos? Free or paid is fine with me as long as it actually works. Thank you!

There are plenty of file recovery apps on this board.
As long as you haven’t over-written the originals on your flash card you should be able to recover them.
I have used BadCopy Pro with good results

Yeah, that is what it’s looking like so far unfortunately. But then again, I’m having another problem with Nikon d70. Usually when I plug it in to my laptop, my laptop automatically recognizes it and I can browse the pics stored on the camera. But now, when I connect the d70 to my laptop nothing happens. Therefore, so far, I am not able to even check my d70 to see if the apps you all mentioned above is working or not.
I re-downloaded and installed Picture Perfect since it is the original software that came bundled with my d70 when I first bought it. But still, my laptop isn’t recognizing my d70. I can start another thread about this if I need to.

Do you not have a card reader to access on your notebook to try it that way ?

You mean an external card reader? If so, then no, I don’t have one. My laptop is a Thinkpad Z60M.

I’m not sure about the d70, but is there a USB setting on it PTP (instead of mass storage) so that your camera is recognised by the software when you plug it in ?
If it’s in mass storage mode, can you not go to My Computer, and the flash card will be showing as a drive ?

I was about to reply that I was going to try the PTP method that you mentioned since I already tried the mass storage mode and I found out what the problem was. I didn’t have the usb plug for my d70 plugged in all the way. I pushed it in all the way and voila, everything is fine now! Jeez, don’t I feel stupid. :S
Anyway, yeah I used “digital rescue premium” but it didn’t work to restore the pics I was looking for. Oh well. It’s so frustrating though. It restored pics that I took back in 2005 and 2006 BUT it didn’t restore the pictures that I was actually looking for that I took last year in 2010. So frustrating…!

I guess they had been over-written, but worth a try anyway
If you ever decide to invest in an external card reader, I would certainly recommend this Transcend USB 3.0 one (also backward compatible with USB 2.0). You may not have USB 3.0 now, but who knows what’s around the corner.

Always handy if you are on holiday and run out of flash space – you can go in an internet cafe and back your photos up on-line.
