Personal information on videos from Lynda?

August 23rd, 2013

Hi there WBB.
After downloading loads of Lynda courses from this site I finally decided to buy an account over at Lynda[dot]Com.
Now I think it is time to give back, and since I have found a way to rip the movies using DownloadHelper for FF it is not that difficult. I am however concerned that since it is a personal account and I paid for it, the .mov files could contain some personal information to prevent piracy, just like iTunes files.
Is there any way to check if they store some personal information on each of the files and if so, how do I remove it?
Best regards
EMR

There’s info in the metadata.
However it is not linked to you.
With the account you simply have acces to a part of Lynda’s server.
Removing the metadata might be possible by importing the files in a video editing program and then exporting it with the same setting as the original files. You create new files then.
Also check out Google for quicker solutions:).

Thank you for the answer. Did not know it was called metadata – will try and google that.
