My pc is not booting when i turn on, i hear 1 long beep and then 2 or 3 short beeps….

things i have done:
–removed the ram and reseated..tried at different slots.
-removed battery for few mins and placed it back in
–removed one of this red jumper beside the battery and placed it back in..set the jumper on 1 2, and 2 /3 pin..still no go.
note: when the pc boots, i see 3 red solid light on m/board, 4th one blinks then 3 of the red light turns off except the first one
update:
i removed and reinserted the video card and still same issue..when i turn on the pc, the 4th LED light blinks for few seconds and theni hear beeps and all LED lights turns off but the first LED light stays on solid

I have had similar trouble…
For some reason, If I un-plug my hard-drive… the pc’s DOS comes up…
Weird… but you may either have a corrupt graphics card, corrupt motherboard.. or a corrupt harddrive

You can always strop down to mobo/processor/ram and see if it turns on.
You wont get any video, but you will be able to hear if it post or not.
edwoodweb replied: get the mobos manual and see what those lites mean
You can probably Google this up from the manufacture if you don’t have it.

get the mobos manual and see what those lites mean

That must be some crap mobo – there are tons of the same post everywhere on the net, lol
4 LED's on = Power applied, checking CPU
3 LED's on = Cpu has been detected ok, checking RAM
2 LED's on = RAM has been detected ok, checking VGA
1 LED on = VGA been detected ok, entering BIOS
0 LED's on = System has booted to the Operating System

I haven’t had time to locate the manual yet though – do a Google yourself for it to get the beep codes
