Hello everyone !
I’m planning to buy a pc next week but I don’t know very sure yet (bad english)
weither all components will fit into the case… the main questions are:
– Will the motherboard fit into the case? Question Answered!
– Is a 500 W PSU enough for this VGA? Question Answered!
– Will the XFX GeForce 8800GTS 512MB fit into the case?
PC Components are listed below (http://www.google.com?p=5900849#5900849)
Thx in advance !

Answer #1
looks good !
– Will the motherboard fit into the case? – both ATX
– Will the XFX GeForce 8800GTS 512MB fit into the case? – both PCIe 2
– Is a 500 W UPS enough for this VGA? – yup
Answer #2
Can you prove your statements? Cause I was googling all the time and didn’t find a thing at all… I just want to be sure! Nevertheless, thx for your reply!

Answer #3
Please help me !
=> Now I’ll probably get a “Please don’t post twice!” <=
Answer #4
Most likely yes because all the new parts you purchased are similar in specifications to your new parts just a bit older, so it will all be compatible.
Answer #5
Thank you! Another question: “Would you guys also get an XFX VGA or do you prefer another manufacturer, and why?”
Answer #6
I use a site
www.mwave.com
that lists motherboards as bundles with CPU/memory options that are compatible
that’s always a good way to start
ATX & PCIe 2 are standards that are in your components and match
that’s where the proof is & that’s why I noted them

:

  1. The mobo will fit into the case (they both use the ATX normative);
  2. Sure! That mobo already uses the new X38 chipset, so you can even connect two PCI-E graphic cards at the same time and use them with the maximum bandwith for data transfer (2x PCI-Express (2.0) x16);
  3. It should be enough. Just an humble advice. The E6850 costs ~$100 more than the E6750 just for a small raise in the clock speed.
    Even with the stock cooler, you are easily able to OC the E6750 to an highest clock speed than the E6850. The E6850 is a bad choice.
    For a similar price of the E6850 you should buy the Q6600. You can compare benchmark’s here:

    • http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=872&model2=871&chart=444
  4. Relatively to the graphic card, I would change it for a 8800GT. Again, the 8800GTS is relatively more expensive.
    If you compare benchmark’s, the 8800GT has a better performance pratically in every game, except if you are using very, very high resolutions. Then the memory difference between both cards kicks in.
    I would stick with the 8800GT…
    Apart from these details, it’s a great config!

Regards!
EDIT – If you could change the 500GB hard drive for 2x250GB (with the same specs: 7200rpm and 32MB Cache) and connect them in RAID0, the performance difference will be noticeable!

Thank you ” (can you please remove the content of ‘PC.pdf’ in your post) and thank you very much ” and yes, ur right, I will buy 2x 500 GB, 7200 Rpm, 32 MB because the price is not an issue As for the E6850, I’m still keeping that one cause I’m planning to oc’ that cpu too. And I think you didn’t understand me, I know the VGA will ‘fit’ into the Abit QuadGT but I meant fit (read: size, dimensions). :

Hum Hum I have the 512 Version
Reformulated question: “Is the case big enough to fit the XFX 8800 GTS ?”
Unaswered question:
"Would you guys also get an XFX VGA or do you prefer another manufacturer, and why?"
Thx in advance

New config due to advise from -members Image
Questions:
– Will the XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 512 MB (9″) fit into the Sonata III 500 Case?
– Do you guys prefer another 3D-manufacturer due to quality, performance, driver-support …?
Thx in advance
Answer #10
:

  1. I really don’t know as I haven’t even seen the case. But it has the obligation to feet.
  2. I had very good experiences both with XFX and eVGA. In both cases, when I needed to activate the warranty the all process didn’t took more than 2 weeks to be solved. In my opinion both solutions are the best on the market – solid manufacturing, testing and fast return\warranty process, nothing bad to point out.
    My worst experiences were with ASUS and BFG. In every three ASUS that pass through my hands, one comes defective from factory (but I’ve been charged of just being not a lucky person). BFG I had just one contact with (an 6200 at the time) and it was terribly, all the costumer support sucks. Don’t know if they had some improvements since then…
    I’m from Portugal, so I don’t know if this opinion is relevant (warranty related experiences), as I deduct that the process must be different from where you’re from!

Answer #11
I would recommend buying a Q6600 instead of the E6850.

Just a comment I think you mean 500 W PSU (Power supply unit )
not UPS (Uninteruptable power supply (battery backup) )
Answer #13
Ow, yes , ur right – edited.
And thank you , I’m from Belgium.. But I think I will stick to the XFX card then,
still my questions is not answered, will the GeForce fit into my case
I really don't know as I haven't even seen the case. But it has the obligation to feet.
What does that mean? I don’t understand wammie, nowadays there is VERY few software that fully supports quadcores,
so why would I buy one? all benchmarks indicate that buying a quadcore nowadays is pretty obsolete,
or can you prove me wrong?
Answer #14
If price is not an issue (nor the machine durability) and the objective is pure overclock, than the E6850 is a better choice…
It comes with an higher clock, higher FSB and an higher multiplier. But that’s really the only reason why.
For an “regular” user, the true question would be between a E6750 and Q6600.
EDIT – For extreme OC, get a good power supply…
EDIT2 – As designing an ATX case, a manufacturer has the obligation to be assured that every component that’s used in such size normative has the necessary space to be installed.

Correct, but i’m a hardcore-tweaker
As for the first edit, I’ve just been reading reviews and the EarthWatt 500 PSU is very good
– Core 2 Duo E6850 => =< 65W
– XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB => =< 150W <= max power consumption
– 2x HD Seagate Barracuda ES.2 => 0.7 V x 2.8 A x 2 (hd’s) =< 4W
– RAM – FANS
– Mobo
=> Plenty of power left to overclock
Btw, you know very much about it Thx man ! CU Tomorrow Good night!
Answer #16
the 8.1″ case measurement = card hight (the slot plate with plugs)
and the 9″ card measurement = card length
mobo measurement 9.65″ and case 18.2″ are the ones that show it will fit
FYI: I posted the specs in editable format so folks could copy & paste info
the pic makes it harder to do that for those of us who hate to type
Answer #17
Thank you very much, all questions are answered now..!
Mods may close/bin this topic now
Thank you guys !
