Overclocking my q6600 2,4Ghz proc
August 5th, 2016
I hope someone can help me overclocking my processor q6600. It’s a 2,4 ghz 1066 mhz. I got 800mhz 4gb RAM.
Ive read that my FSB multiplier is 9, so my FSB mhz is 266mhz. (2,4/9~266mhz) Of course I want a 1:1 ratio.
but further.. I really don’t understand it.
Can someone tell me which configuration I need to configure? What FSB, what numbers.. anything.
Thank you very much.

First and foremost if you want to actually learn you shouldn’t take off other people’s numbers and use them. You should experiment and figure out for yourself what settings work best for you. All CPUs and scenarios are different and results might greatly vary with the same settings between different people. There’s just too many factors involved. A good guide (or a set of them like the one I’ve linked) is the best way to get started.
9x is the multiplier, 266 is the clock gen.
FSB is 4 times the clock gen. You want to link the clock gen with the memory clockspeed, but are you sure your memory is 800mhz, if it is, its DDR2 1600 which is not really realistic. Even if your using overclocked modules. I reckon your referring to DDR 2 800, which is actually a 400Mhz clockspeed. I personally wouldn’t overclock a Q6600 as the heat output is near insanity even with a decent air cooler. I’ve heard if you don’t have a batch with a G0 stepping, you won’t get high clocks. Depending on what motherboard you got, it might not seem realistic. Forget it.

I’ve got a 945 MSi Diamond motherboard. Does this change anything?
WARNING! WORK WITH CAUTION!!!
1. Go In BIOS And Open MB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T.)
(depends what type of motherboard you have)
And Set This Spec.:
-CPU Cloack Ratio= X9 (Multiplicator)
-CPU Hoast Cloack Control= ENDABLE
-CPU Hoast Frequency (Mhz)= 333
-System Memory Multiplier (SPD)= 2.40
THIS TWO l MUST l COINCIDE- (SPD)=800 / 2.40=800
-Memory Frequency= 800 800 (RAM Speed Frequency)
-System Voltage Control= MANUAL or AUTO (Depend On Motherboard)
-Loadline Calibration= ENDABLE
-CPU Voltage Control= 1.24375-1.250 (Depend On Motherboard)
2. Then Go To PC Health Status(still in BIOS)
And Set This Spec.:
-CPU Smart Fan Mode= VOLTAGE
And You Will Get 3Ghz of Each Core.Buth I Must WARN YOU That If You Want For This Spec Works Perfectly YOU MUST HAVE GOOD CPU FAN.
I dont recomandet to go higher than this bicouse it will overheat drusticly. When All Done Download this for CPU & Temperature Control.:

I Hope IT WILL WORKS!

Couldn’t find your motherboard model on MSI’s support archives download section. 945’s doesn’t really have that many phases, even if you got allot, 945’s weren’t that desirable for overclocking during those days, it was the P965. Still that is old, you would use a P35 or P45, X38 or even a X48 board for overclocking.

I Have Gigabyte P35-DS3P Motherboard and CPU q6600 2.4Ghz Overcloacked to 3GHZ with 6G 800Mhz RAM Memory.
First things 1st, is it G0 stepping or B3, if its B3 then you shouldn’t overclock it.
however if its G0 you can get 3.5ghz like me if you try hard enough :p
I have a Q6600 and I tried to OC but I failed, my motherboard and psu are too crap, if you end up OC’ing be careful!
agreed, if you do overlock make sure your rig can handle it! what wattage psu do you have? and do you have an aftermarket cpu cooler? you wont be getting far on stock.

What does that have to do with anything?
6 gigs of DDR2 dual channel, I don’t see the point.
Either 2×2 GB sticks, 4×2 or 2×4. Same brand, same rated speed, same voltage and same timings.
