Over clocking my PC

January 21st, 2020

I have never done this but I have always been curious about maximizing the power of my CPU. I have HP Pavilion a6700f – Phenom X4 9150e 1.8 GHz and I would like to know if there is any software out there that could increase it to say 2.0 or 2.1 I’m trying to stay really safe, and how exactly would this effect my computer ? Will the life of it be cut short ? or can this modification be sustained for the next 3 years or so ? Thanks for your help.
Answer #1
Yes it will last for 3 years, provided if you follow the protocols.
Clean the cooler and fan every 2 months. If on the floor once per month. The best overclock is archived using the BIOS normally. Maybe AMD Overdrive will work with your CPU. Tell us the rest of your computer parts, MOBO, RAM etc.
If your unsure use CPU-Z and take some screenshots with say Infranview with each tab in CPU-Z.

So I have to take out my fan ? and clean it ? Thats alot of work, not even sure about doing that. See all my specs here http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/hp-pavilion-a6700f-phenom/4507-3118_7-33463396.html?tag=rnav

Its not that bad, if you clean it properly the first time, you don’t even have to remove it again.
Well maybe you have to remove the case covers. You know the fins of the cooler, if you got it filled with dust and it looks like the air won’t pass through then you have to remove it.
But is not that bad, just get some “Methylated Spirits” and lots of cotton buds and a brush. Your toothbrush will even do.
Note: do not put meths on the brush as it makes it look terrible.
I smell a entry level MOBO shown by the integrated graphics. This mobo isn’t going to give you a good result in overclocking.
Answer #4
So I should just leave it as it is ?
Answer #5
Well if you had a camera, a high resolution one.
Take a screenshot of your bios options and we could go from there. Hold DEL key during bootup.
Answer #6
Where in bios options ?
Answer #7
I held del key and nothing happen
