Online Backup advice needed

May 31st, 2014

Hi all,
I have uploaded my backups to my Fileserve account but wont to move them to a free online backup instead of paying every month. I don’t wont to share them as they are personal backups but don’t want to re-download them all and then re-upload them so transfer from Fileserve to the online storage is needed.
I need about 20gb of space and will allow single files of over 1gb as one of my files is 1.2gb in size.
Any help would be great, Thanks

Why don’t you just get an external HDD? Online backup is simply not practical for large amounts of data.
Answer #2
Thanks but looking for online as I store backups for family as well who need access to them at anytime so hard drive isn’t practical.

I see,The only (free) online storage service that fits your requirements is Adrive:
http://www.adrive.com/
50GB & 2GB file size limit,Do note note the following however:
1. As a free Adrive user,You cannot use their backup app or webdav (map it to a drive letter)
2. In order to upload the files to Adrive from Fileserve,You’ll need generate direct links for each and use the “Transfer Remote File” option after logging in to your account,Do note however that it only supports one file at a time.

If you have a decent adsl or cable connection, then you can use an external drive for your backups as Roberto suggested, and set up a simple web server or ftp server so that your family get access to files you want to share.
Serv-U does pretty decent software, or you can use Apache for webserver.
