OEM vs. Retail
August 4th, 2016
OEM or Retail what…and what are you building ??
I prefer an unopened Retail motherboard or cpu because I don’t trust sellers of OEM…
im getting it from tigerdirect.com and im building a computer
If you trust the seller then it’s a matter of accessories with the mobo (do you really need them) and a fan that comes with the retail cpu. That’s all I’m aware of.
also should i go with 4 sticks at 1gig each or 2 sticks at 2gigs each does it matter?
If the motherboard allows it I would prefer two of the 2 GB sticks.
ok
what does OEM mean? and whats the difference between OEM and retail?
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer and usually comes with little documentation, drivers, software and the frills that come with Retail products. Apart from that they are identical. Some OEM stuff, such as hard drives offer longer warranties. The price is usually a fair bit lower.

That would probably be best for dual chan mode…
Also you will need XP x64 or better for 4GB of ram,we are told
