blu-ray rip vs. retail blu-ray

August 4th, 2016

Does anyone know if there is a difference in PQ between a BR rip or a retail BR?I have a PS3 and the only BR I have watched has been an x264 720p rip.Am I missing out on PQ with a rip or are they just as good as retail?
Answer #1
retail and rip’s are much the same (in my eyes anyway)
retail will probably be slightly better.
Answer #2
1080p rips are better quality than the 720s not by much but i think they are!
Answer #3
depends how big your tv is because if you had a 26inch tv you cant tell diff between 720 and 1080 so it doesn’t better might be just the same in my eyes

sound might a bit better on retail.

Retail BluRays give you the experience of Full-Hd picture quality!Rips cannot give the quality of True-HD!The difference is picture quality i mean!

After doing more research, the sound will be better on a retail for me because I have to use MKV2VOB to get them to play on my PS3 and when you convert the movie,it converts all audio to DD 5.1

blu-ray disk- you can play it on a blu-ray player and on a computer( if you have a blu-ray drive) and it’s full size
blu-ray rip – you can’t play it on a blu-ray player (unless you convert it) and you could play it on your computer, but it saves space
