No Sound (Rise of Nations)

Firstly here are my Sound and OS Specs:
Sound: Realtek HD Audio Output
Driver Version: 5.10.0000.5745
OS: Windows XP Professional
I’ve been wanting to play this game so much. Once I got my new computer I downloaded it from here then installed it. Only to find out I don’t have any sound in the game ! I made sure the game wasn’t a rip and re-downloaded it to make sure I wasn’t missing any files (From another link).
Only to then find out through googling that this problem isn’t just my own. I found this support on the Microsoft website http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893681.
I followed everything on that page for Windows XP and nothing happened, although I didn’t use the XP disk to re-install the codecs because there were some .ACM files for each audio codec anyway so I just used them. I’m not sure if I 100% need the XP Disk or something, maybe this is the problem.
So here I am I cannot for the life of me get the sound on this game to bloody work and it’s so frustrating. Please I just want to play this game again!!!

I also heard sometimes you can’t hear any sound on old games because of the 64 bit operating systems.. so do you have that?
