No sound after updating computer.

August 18th, 2017

Hi everybody. Thank you for stopping in to read.
I have encountered a problem with having no sound after I installed 4 updates today. It worked perfectly before I updated. Now it just says that “No speakers or headphones are plugged in.” I use a small HDTV with an HDMI cable from my video card for both audio and video.
I went to playback devices to make sure it is the default device and that it was enabled.
I made sure everything is up to date through windows update and through Nvidia geforce experience.
I ran the audio troubleshooter multiple times with no success.
I restarted the computer a couple of times to make sure the new updates took effect properly.
My system specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.4GHz (8 CPUs)
13 GIGs of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti I’ll list the 4 updates Here:
1. Security Update for Microsoft Chart Controls for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (KB2500170)
2. nVidia – Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3, Other hardware – NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti
3. Ralink – Network – RT73 USB Wireless LAN Card
4. HTC Corporation – Other hardware – HTC MTP Device
Thanks again.

Answer #1
Have you tried rolling the drivers back one by one to determine if these might have caused it?
Answer #2
Look at the NVidia console make sure the resolution you select has audio enabled IIRC there is one list of resolutions with no audio and above that another list with audio enabled
Answer #3
Thanks for the replies. I did tried both suggesting and while rolling back my video drivers, it didn’t help at first but, I updated my video drivers through Nvidia Geforce experience this time and the damndest thing happened. I checked the playback devises and I see my TV listed so, I set it to the default device and now sound is currently working through the TV. It is strange though because, there are now 3 other disabled devices listed in the menu. They are called NVIDIA HDMI Output Port 1, 2, and 3. I only have 1 HDMI Port though which is kinda confusing but, at-least it’s working now.
