No DrivesFound When Installing Alienware Windows 7
February 4th, 2020
After a while trying to install Ultimate I gave up and decided to use the currently installed Home Premium, but on boot there is now a selection of “Set Up” or “Windows 7” Both of them bring a blue screen when seleted
How can I format the hard drive and install Windows 7 Ultimate please?
Many thanks in advance!
Check the bios and see what’s the SATA settings…
Are you using an msdn iso or a custom one? It appears the iso you are using lacks correct drivers. Download the latest msdn iso and try again. You can press shift+f10 in the installation environment and use diskpart to check if hard drives are found.
I have bought an M17X R4 Laptop and it came with Windows 7 Home Premium
Dell includes a partition for a system restore back to original condition. Check “Control Panel”
After restore to original condition, install ultimate
Or you can not get to your hard drive at all now?

Diskpart says there are no drives to show? But the home Preimium was working fine so there are drives lol.
will this work?
The will begin the restore before windows
Thanks, the correct key was F8 after the Alienware logo, then I selected the Repair option from the menu and it sent me to the AlienRespawn service which within a minute restored my laptop back to factory settings
.
If you have access to a Linux distro you should try gdisk, maybe you can repair the partition table(if this is the problem…) from there.
