I would go for that PC you’ve already figured out above. You could make it better if you get a Quad core instead of the triple. The triple cores aren’t that great. Also if possible something like an Intel E8400 along with something like a P35 motherboard (both not that expensive) will cream that processor + motherboard.

Ok…what you think AMD or Intell processor which is better?!

Intel of course is better in every aspect no questions asked.

Answer #11
I would recommend some changes.
Beginning by the processor. Currently Intel processors deliver a better performance compared to AMD solutions. For 600 you can afford to buy a better processor.
The “main” decision at this point, for you, should be if you want to buy a processor with 2 or 4 cores. At that price range, I would recommend either a E8400 or a Q6600 (dual core and quad core respectively).
Another “error” with your configuration are the 3GB of memory. Currently, practically all motherboards support Dual-Channel. Basically it’s a feature that (theoretically) doubles the data throughput from RAM to the memory controller. To use this feature, you must have pair memories (1GB + 1GB | 2GB + 2GB | …) with exact same frequency. So, I would never bet on 3GB of memory. There are great 4GB kit’s at a very low price…
Anyway, I leave my suggestion:

  • ASUS P5Q – A great P45 based solution. Supports LGA775 processors with a max FSB of 1600Mhz and 16GB of DDR2 memory (1600Mhz max). ~95
    http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=709&l4=0&model=2428&modelmenu=1

  • Intel Core 2 Duo Q6600 – A great 4 core processor, for a great price. Awesome price\quality ratio. ~165
    http://www.intel.com/products/processor/core2quad/index.htm

  • 250GB SATA2 32MB Cache Hard Drive – SATA hard drives are really cheap. With 700 in your pocket I don’t see why you should stick only with a 160GB hard-drive. ~40
  • DVD -/+ R/RW SATA Drive – Costs around 25.
  • 600W Power Supply – Entry-level PSU’s will do just fine if you don’t intend to preform an aggressive overclock. I recommend the NOX Urano segment or a LC-Power solution. ~45
    http://www.nox-xtreme.com/uranoseries600w.htm
    http://www.lc-power.com/

  • OCZ 4GB DDR2 1066Mhz XTC Platinum – A great set of memories that will allow your computer to function in Dual-Channel. If you can’t buy this kit, just stick with a 4GB\1066Mhz kit, preferably from a good brand (OCZ, GSkill, Patriot, …). ~90
    http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_8500_platinum_4gb_edition_dual_channel

  • PowerColor HD4850 PCS 1GB GDDR3 – Currently the graphic card that gives you the best performance in it’s price segment. An absolutely “must-have”. I like this PowerColor model, just because of the cooling system that’s very good and silent, but any manufacturer will do. ~180
    http://www.powercolor.com/Global/products_speci.asp?ProductID=2354

It gives you a total of around 615. Just add the case and the configuration should cost around 650 total.
