Networking woes question
August 5th, 2016
All was fine.
Ive recently updated my machine, and due to SLi there’s only one PCI slot available, which is being used by my TV tuner card. So Ive had to opt for a USB equivlant.
I bought the Netgear 108mbps WPN1111 and is awful, not only do you have to re-attach the device everytime you want to use it in XP but the streaming is very choppy.
I would like to have a STRONG signal to eliminate any breakup in picture, is this possible with USB?
Would I be better off getting another router connected to the PC downstairs so its goes
phone line—router—-router—upstairs PCI
I ideally dont want to plug anything else into the mains, or use an ethernet cable.
Any suggestions?
use an ethernet cable.
not exactly “wireless” is it
I would go for the router option. It doesn’t even need to be a router. You could just get a wireless access point which would also connect via ethernet to your pc. It might be cheaper.
