Networking for a house

You need a wireless router..If some of the computers don’t have a wireless card..You can buy PCI wireless cards..Very cheap…
I need something faster, so i can stream from our media computer all around the house as Full HD movies stutter when they stream over wifi.I also would like to large transfer files around the house aswell.

Wired connections are nearly always preferable to wireless, they tend to be more stable and offer faster transfer rates I find.
Because of where everything is in my house I have the following set-up:-
Wireless Router
to
Wireless Bridge router (an old router using DD-WRT)
to 5 Port Gigabit switch
From the Gigabit switch I then connect up several PC’s and if I needed to a NAS or some such.
A good substitute for wireless and having to wire the whole house with cabling

Can get Speeds up to 500 Mbps, it turns your houses electrical system into a network.. they work very well..
Only need one at teh modem and one at each computer, also great for use with a laptop, plug it anywhere inside the house where u wanna use it..
No wireless hassles …
Edit:
Since ur in australia, Netcomm makes them too
Netcomm makes them up to 200mbps

Hmmm I may keep this idea in mind, but i’m right now I’m really looking at a wired setup
In australia if your going to put ethernet cables inside the walls they have to be done by a electrician by law, not allowed to be done by yourselves..
You don’t necessarily have to use wireless connection…You still can use wired with wireless router…It will have at least 4 ports…
I only suggested wireless for easy installation..I have wireless router myself but I use wired connection…
CAT6 or CAT5e and Gigabit switches.
place a bunch of cat 6 cable inputs in every room and create a main dedicate room where it has a router and its modem. It’s better to hardwired a house then have it run on wireless. I use 2 wrt54gl and run 100ft cables between each router then have an additional two 50ft wires to connect the other rooms.
