Network Adapter Windows 7 Fail

September 25th, 2013

I bought myself a Dell XPS17 (Model No. L702X). Don’t get me wrong It’s amazing and beats just about all of my friends desktops in speed and graphics, but whenever I come out of Sleep/Hibernation/or Shutdown, I have to go into device manager and disable “Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller” then enable it in order to get any access to the internet. I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit.
Let me know if you need any other information, I have spent full days looking up this problem and no success.

Answer #1
is there a option for Realtek PCIe family controller or related in statup tab on system confiugration???
Answer #2
No
Answer #3
Device manager>Realtek>Power management,Uncheck “allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”,That
should take care of it,If not,Obtain the latest driver from DELL’s site,Personally,I hate hibernation and have disabled
it,Yeah it saves some power,But it takes way too long for the PC to be accessible again,Plus it’s not very healthy
for your HDD as it’s power get cycled way too often which is not good thing.
Answer #4
I’ve already done that but, I’ve re-done it. I’ll check if there is another driver, and how do you disable it?
Answer #5
Winkey+R>powercfg.cpl
Set “turn off hard disks” and “system standby” to never, also get into the advanced tab,And change “when i press the sleep button on my computer” to “do nothing”,Then get into the hibernate tab and uncheck “enable hibernation”
