Need some help with power options in W7 Enterprise Edition

August 4th, 2013

So. I just recently got my computer back from the admin at school. The thing is, there are policies in place that makes it so that I can’t change my power settings.
The settings for closing the lid, and other buttons are grayed out and I can’t change what anything does.
I get a dialog that says: “Certain settings are controlled by the administrator” My problem is: if I take it back to him, he’ll just suggest to wipe it again, as it is his solution to just about anything. Does anyone know how I can change my settings so that my computer won’t shut off every time I have to go somewhere?

Have a look here:

In the middle of the text, there’s a bold section for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace\{025A5937-A6BE-4686-A844-36FE4BEC8B6D}
Try it Although I’m not sure if you will be available to edit the registry without administrator rights, however give it a go!

Thanks for the answer! it didn’t work, though, as it was just a preferred plan setting and it didn’t allow for any change.
Answer #3
That’s Group Policy.
Win+R (run) > gpedit.msc
Answer #4
It’s may be your account is not administrator account. You need to create an account with Administration privileges to access all possibilities of windows 7.
Answer #5
I would create an administrator account if the systems administrator had allowed it. But it’s blocked by policy also.

SmAsHeDr,
Thanks! Using that I was able to unblock sleep and hibernation mode for the battery power. And that’s much better!
