Need help with virus

January 22nd, 2020

Ok so here is my problem, I will see if anyone can help me, and yes I have checked google and whatnot already to no avail.
My computer (work computer at that) has been running EXTREMELY slow, especially on start up.
My settings always change from the XP settings to look like the “Classic Windows” settings and will not give me an option to change back to XP settings
My display settings always change my resolution and will not allow me to change it without going through the main graphics controller
last problem, it is saying I have no audio device when I clearly have WORKING speakers (brand new) on the computer.
AVG and Panda Cloud both say that I have Win32/PePatch
any help that would allow me to fix this would be GREAT! I cannot for the life of me figure this out, and I dont want to go to the tech guy and end up someone bitching me out for “Installing software I shouldn’t have”. Any help here would be great, thanks in advance!

Answer #1
try spybot search & destroy check taskmanager for virus processes, http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
do a check with hijacktjis http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/
and post your logfile
if nothing helps save all data you need , use linux and format your HDD and reinstall windows (maybe you should install ubuntu or opensuse as second OS so you can surf and download secure with linux and play or use programs with windows)
ps. what windows do you use?
Answer #2
first check the program that Automatically starts at Windows start up
Start > Run > msconfig > Startup
You will see the program that might be using too much resource, disable the one you are not using then restart..
actually i face the screen resolution problem while i was using a modified Xp version.. Is your Windows an untouched? or is it a Blue, Black, Micro Version?
Well, personally i don’t like AVG, try to get Avira or even Kaspersky to rely get rid of viruses, if their are.. hope this help to solve part of your problem.. Smile

Is this not the AVG free you would get from the AVG website?
Install Kaspersky Internet Security (Any Version) And Run Full Scan!
Will give this a try as well!
Thanks again to all, and by all means keep any/all help coming!
