Need help with buying an iphone

I want to get an iphone 4.I am not from the usa.I have my aunt living in there.She will be visiting me sometimes next year n i’m probably gonna tell her to bring an iphone 4.
Now,since the price of ip4(factory unlocked) is very high,i will tell her to bring one with the at&t connection.That will cost 199$ or 299$ i guess(right?)I will then jb it n unlock it to use with my carrier.But will it get her in any kind of trouble as she is buying it with the contract with at&t and then not using at&t as the carrier?I mean what’s the contract actually.Do you get in the contract just after buying the iphone or there is an activation process?

She will either be stuck paying a monthly bill for two years, paying an early termination fee of around $350, or having it mark her credit.

She will stuck with the bills…. Cz at&t will charge her for each month (the contract price she signed for per month)….. Whats the hurry in using Iphone4??? I must suggest you if u want to enjoy Iphone fun purchase Iphone 3gs and Enjoy…. It is much cheap than Iphone 4 and obviously stable……
Or 2nd Option is to wait for the time when price goes down… Otherwise you will be annoying your aunt…. Really…..

ok, thanx for the help…..n actually i am not in a hurry,she will be here next year just before the next iphone gets released(probably in July it will b released,right?) so i guess there will be a significant drop in the price by then.n i wish by that time i will be able to get ip4…or i will have to stick with a 3gs i guess
edit: by the way,how much will it cost if i get the iphone 3g n will it be without a contract?
