So would you say this package is very powerful ?
As in overall fast, powerful, great for gaming . . . I usually only go for leadtek or asus geforce series, never used gainward yet,
Is Gainward ATI Radeon HD graphics any good ? & I weren’t really looking for a tv input for it.
And is this Xclio case as good ?

Cause its going to be a present, so I need the appearance looking good, which ones best you think ? sorry for the the questions

BSoD with my E8400 @ stock till I upgraded
Ouch. You must have had an oddball.

You can’t get any better for the money

That is the single most powerful HD4850 card atm (a very high factory overclock). I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. My current one is a Power Color and it’s very good as well. This card will be much better though because of the higher clocks.

That case looks worse than the one I picked imo . You really can’t get a better looking one for the price. You can spend a bit more and get something like this though

don’t think so as it’s stable except when I pushed it, running single core games that would use 100% of 1 core
the stock heatsink is a POS for gaming because the upgraded heatsink ($18)keeps it 10 degrees cooler @ full load than the stock one
even a stock P4 heatsink, which is twice as high, keeps it 8-10 degrees cooler at full load
and all this with no case so the surrounding air was room temp
so if he’s gaming with it I would deff recommend an upgraded cooler
you running a stock cooler ^|^ ?
Answer #6
you running a stock cooler ^|^ ?
OC’d an E6300 before from 1.83Ghz to 2.8GHz on the stock. 50C on idle and 65C on both cores 100%. I know those temps are not that good but anyway just saying. Never had problems with it and it’s been running at that for a long time.
I don’t use stock myself but my Q9450 can reach 3 Ghz on the stock easy as pie. Running it @ 3.4GHz atm with a Xigmatek HDT-S1283. If not overclocking there’s no problem with a stock. Usually at ~45C idle on stock when I had my E8500. Will probably be lower for you. I live in an ambient of around 27C all the time
Answer #7
Ok, If you think I need to upgrade the cooler, which one should I get, try not to over budget me too much
Answer #8
Forget the cooler it’s definitely not needed
Answer #9
I would seriously reconsider that memory, I have the 8500 variety and it’s not that good and is awful for access because of the high heatsinks on it. I have to remove it every time I want to remove my hard drive cages which I never had to do with my previous OCZ memory. It also partly blocks the CPU heatsink fan. I would budget for a decent heatsink as the Retail heatsinks are rubbish. Something like a OCZ Vendetta 2 with backplate would make a fairly quiet cooler and the price is fairly decent. The newer Gladiator Max would be even better but the Vendetta 2 price should be slightly lower now than I paid but I bet you won’t find it for the price I got it for.

hmmm you sure bout all of that??? they look good…. maybee you just needed 1066.
Answer #11
Nah. With some motherboards and CPU heatsinks and cases the height of the RAM blocks a few things. My Mushkin sticks are pretty low in height but they cost a lot compared to that OCZ one. I think the case would work. It’s got enough room

lol I have the 1066 ones, I re-read the parts list and noticed that they were 6400’s rather than the 8500’s I have. But apart from the speed they are identical in terms of blocking stuff and that would be more an issue if he is not overclocking.

They look more impressive than they are IMO, but in practice they are difficult to work with. I have never had to remove so many parts from my case just to swap hard drives before and it’s a fairly big full tower case. I never had to do it with my previous build, I could take out only the parts I wanted, remove hard drive cages unhindered etc and all because of the memory.

i ment whit they look good, that the spec’s lookd good… :p why whould i care about the look of the RAM
Answer #14
Try and look on tomshardware.com
They use differenty budgets to work out various kinds of Pc’s and each month it’s a new one, definetly worth your look.
Answer #15
OK, Thanks a lot guys,
I’m about to order the parts off overclockers, is there anything I should change last minute ? like a offer on OCs etc ?
Everything sorted ??
Answer #16
And with the ram, wouldn’t I need DDR3 now ?
Please dont double post, use the Image button next time - th3l33t1
Answer #17
Just went through their current offers. Nope nothing new. Go for the stuff mate.
Why would you need DDR3 ?
Answer #18

nah DDR2 will do fine, DDR3 isnt necessary yet
Answer #19
The motherboard wouldn’t support DDR3 anyway.

Just pick the coolest looking one. BTW the 900 doesn’t have dust filters so you might need to buy them separate. The Lian Li case is aluminium so it’s light. Just giving you options here
Answer #22
Save yourself some money and trouble by buying from somewhere else as overclockers are crooks and get piles of bad reviews. They don’t list the prices with VAT on many places on their site so you have to watch out for that. I purchased from them once and would not do so again.
eBuyer is good and would be free delivery. Play.com occasionally do some good deals and all free delivery, I got a Vendetta 2 for 17.99 delivered free but I think they put the wrong price on their website but honoured it without question. Probably not for the majority of stuff though.
This site is pretty good and some of their prices are very good and good service, but you have to watch their mutiple item delivery prices, especially if they come from multiple warehouses. The other thing to watch is that they can list the same item multiple times from different sources and different prices so you do have to watch and check for the lowest price. I got most of my parts from here>

Too late MM lol, came this morning, currently in the middle of building it
I’ll be adding pictures in a bit and then going to overclock !
Overclockers are a little expensive, but your paying for the quality imo, they are a nice company to work with, I ordered the parts over the phone in about 10 minutes last night, and they came this morning with City Links delivery was very impressed !
Btw going to format it in Windows Vista Ultimate x64, this ok ?
**Important, the power supplys fan is on the bottom, I can turn it upside down so the fans by the motherboard, but the switch looks weird upside down lol, will it ~ censored ~ up if the fans sort of wedge on the bottom of the case ?
Would look better : /

Yep install Vista 64bit right away. The PSU is better if kept the right way up. I don’t know the technical details but that’s how someone told me a long time ago. However for your system it’s not applicable I guess since the PSU is at the bottom. The fan should not be blocked at any costs. It’s fine the way it’s now
Hope you’re happy with the new system. Enjoy it
Edit: Just remembered it’s for your friend . Hope he/she likes it.

Answer #27
Freakin sweet. Almost identical specs to what I was planning on getting near Christmas, and for any future builds I recommend sorting out the components on OC and then comparing prices on eBuyer.com, I managed to get a 650 PC from OC down to 550 by ordering some parts from eBuyer

Omg, its like giving away my baby lol
Told him it’ll be finished by the weekend, as in I’ll be finished playing the new Crysis, Hells Highway, COD4 . . . lmao, but yeah, stunning system, very fast !
Answer #29
I did not realise that the case mounted the PSU there. A Tagan PSU might of been a better option as they have the fans on the front and back rather than the bottom. Or at least they do in mine which is a few years old. It would of given better airflow. A smaller PSU would of been a better choice as 650 is far too big for that system.
Looks a V nice case though. How noisy is it?
Answer #30
I picked out that PSU since it was on a sale at the time. The price was the same as other 500W PSU’s so I couldn’t pass it up. It’s very nice PSU tbh. Better than any Tagan that’s for sure. Airflow is… well to be desired but it wont be bad. The case is nicely designed.
I have it’s cousin. The P182. The Nine Hundred got 3 fan settings. At it’s lowest it’s quiet. At the highest though it sounds like a jet engine . I’ve tested one of those out at a shop. Very awesome case nonetheless

Its very quiet, with 6 fans going I thought there’d be some trouble
I’m very impresses with the case, love it !
