Need help converting 1080p mkv to bd-r

What is the best software to use to convert 1080p mkv files to a blank bd-r disc? For now, i’m able to convert 720p mkv files to bluray, but the same procedure doesn’t work for 1080p. My conversion software (ex:multiAVCHD 4.1) always shuts down with an error when trying to convert a 1080p mkv file.
Just for info, here’s the process i use to burn 720p mkv files to bd-r:
1. Download 720p mkv file.
2. Use multiAVCHD 4.1 to convert 720p mkv file to AVCHD
3. Use DVDFab 8 to burn AVCHD to bd-r for playback on my ps3.
This process works fine for most of the 720 bluray files I burn, but I cannot burn one single 1080p bluray mkv file using this process.
Can anyone help me with burning 1080p mkv to a blank bluray disc?!!?!?!?!?
