McAfee randomly turns off protection

sometimes when im on the computer, mcafee randomly turns off protection… why? and how can i stop it?
cpu specs:
dell studio 15 laptop
windows xp 32bit
intel core 2 duo t6600 @ 2.2GHz
3gig ram
i got the mcafee from this site cracked
Also, what is better eset nod32 or mcafee?

Well you have it cracked, could that be not the cause of it? If you are not willing to pay for security go with freeware!! Best combo out there is Avira + Comodo Firewall + Malwarebytes + SuperAntiSpyware. Yes im suggesting you change AV, not only cuz freeware is better but cuz McAfee is kinda heavy AV. Not many like it cuz its heavy, does it protect? I believe it does i had it since 2004 and protected me well But AV is just too heavy they dont optimize it for perfomance, darn developers gotten lazy. An AV should not take 8 hours to scan HD, thats what it takes to scan my comp with McAfee. With Avira i scan it in 1 hour and half
