malwarebytes

February 3rd, 2020

the new version, seems to be really resource hungry and runs like an Eskimo in the desert with snow shoes on, anyone else find this?
Answer #1
Not ran it for a long time since i discovered it is very poor at finding browser hijackers, malware and adware there are far better apps out there.
Answer #2
hmm.. i found it was good till the upgrade..

Gazman really? I been using malwarebytes for years and I’ve never had a problem with it, removed some of the worst malware I’ve ever had (the fake anti virus’s that won’t let you open any program and spam your desktop )
Answer #4
got to say malwarebytes also works well for me

I was of the same thinking until about a year or so ago mbam wouldn’t remove an obvious nasty i found spyhunter 4 was recommended it not only removed the browser hijacker that mbam didn’t see it found a hell of alot more this was after mbam gave me a clean bill of health. You can find spyhunter 4 here in the apps section the 4.17 build is the latest and comes with an easy to apply patch to get round registration.
Answer #6
Blocks a lot of pop ups for me. Doesn’t really find anything after using bitdefender, but the blocking of pop ups is worth it.
Answer #7
Malwarebytes is good – it removed literally 555 objects from my stepson’s PC yesterday, even though he paid for his copy of Trend Micro. But I do not rely on Malwarebytes exclusively. I always follow with a scan by Spybot – Search & Destroy.

Looks like you have been hacked mate – better scan your pc
I have always found malwarebytes a bit of a resource hog, I only run it if needed. There are plenty of other decent apps out there that perform similar if not better scans.
Answer #12
this is a very interesting thread , guys … maybe you cud do a “Poll” on the apps mentioned so far … ??
Answer #13
triple thumbs up for malwarebytes, since the latest update, its getting even better
@Logikwel what do you mean by resource hog?
Answer #14
I’ve been using MB for many years and always swore by it,,, BUT since updating it the programs caused me nothing but hassle as it’s causing my pc to crash….
On Mon 30/06/2014 21:28:53 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: mwac.sys (mwac+0x6111) Bugcheck code: 0x19 (0x20, 0xFFFFE0005C2AED40, 0xFFFFE0005C2AED60, 0x4020008)
Error: BAD_POOL_HEADER
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\mwac.sys
product: Malwarebytes Web Access Control

The only thing their website is advising is a clean install ( buying it i guess )
Beware peeps if your using windows 8.1 cause this is happening quite often from what i read up on just now
