what vaio model do you have? i’m trying to find rec discs for my vgn-fe28…

I have VPC EC3M1E/BJ and can not do at all. It was in use in store to show people. When I bought I could not burn recovery discs.
I have no idea how to do except setting all back, but I have all updates n stuff and bad internet connection. I will not set it all back. I really want those discs tho.

oh boy…. could be a faulty cd-drive. try doing driver update from vaio support. if that doesn’t work, try disabling the drive from device manager, laptop off and on, it will search/install driver automatically… if still no joy then it could be physical fault on the drive. another option is external USB drive in case you need to boot from your rec discs… cheers man….

How about those laptop with recover on the HD? There is no way to extract the image. In case of HD crash, you’re doomed.

You are a member on this warez board – you can download most operating systems for free, that are not full of the crap that comes pre-installed by Sony.
Why not just make regular backups of your OS drive to an external or other hdd with Acronis True Image Home ?
First thing I do when I buy a new lappy is format it to gain back the recovery partition space (often 10-20GB), and have the OS and programs installed that I want, not what they want me to have.
*edit – I forgot to add, when using recovery discs/recovery partition to do a factory restore, you have to go through the grief of downloading all the updates and new drivers etc. Disk imaging is the way to go.

Yeah, a backup on external hd is very good, Meerkat explained some things to me and it works great.
I would love to have the discs tho, just because I always want to everything saved twice.
It is not a driver problem. Vaio support keeps talking about drivers too, why I dont know. The laptop was in use, I just can not burn anymore, would have to set back, with F10 I think it was.
I want to download Win 7 like Meerkat recommended, but unfortunatly I can download 1 GB, then disconnect. So I would need 1 GB parts, or something where I can resume. Can someone give me a link for German Win 7 home premium 64 bit, please?

if you physically have the discs, then copy them with IMGBURN and upload them to a file host ( suggest megaupload ) as then you will ALWAYS have a copy of the discs from online in case you need them and your physical copies are no longer good.
