Macbook loading real slow and sometimes not loading at all

As of late my macbook has been working real slow on surfing the web and just its overall performace can somebody please help me fix this problem ?

What are you specs?
How old is it?
Try this:
Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > Select your drive > Verify Disk Permissions > Repair Disk Permissions.
Try that, as well as clearing out unnecessary applications that may be taking up too much space.
