Mac and .rar files

July 31st, 2016

Hey guys,
I’m new to mac and having some difficulty with downloaded .rar files that I get from . Basically I’ve downloaded iarchiver and I’m not sure how this will help me extract multiple .rar files (as in if there are eight parts to one movie how do I get that .avi out of that kind of thing?)
Thanks a million,
r

Answer #1
Extract the first file, it should do the rest automaticly
Answer #2
yeah for some reason it’s not doing that.. i’ll keep trying!
Answer #3
Mate, download Betterzip.
It opens up one part, and you can see the file directly right there (say, the .avi file).
Then, just drag it out onto your desktop
Answer #4
Go with UnRarX. Just highlight all the files you want to extract and click one.
Answer #5
I got unrarx and highlighted all files and dragged and dropped into the programme. It extracted all the files and left a folder on the desktop full of .r00, .r01 files. There is no .avi or anything like that. God I’m so thick! Sorry to be bothering you all over something so simple.
Answer #6
If you are left with a bunch of .r00 files then it just means that the person compressed the archive more than once.
There should be like one .rar file that appears with all the .r00 files. Click it and it should extract all the .r00 files into the avi file.
Answer #7
That works! I joined the mac forums and I’ll bother them with the other annoying questions. You’ve all been a great help, thanks a million!
