Lite apps

Thanks
Depends on what u want to use it for. KMplayer is a god media player.
There are lots of apps that you could choose from that should hopefully run on an Atom processor. I’d suggest some of the following, assuming you’re simply going to use your machine for general internet browsing, email, and instant messaging:
Digsby: Allows you to use multiple IM accounts from the one program, so you can talk to AIM friends and MSN friends from the one interface, for example. When installing this application make sure you don’t install any of the bundled bloatware, and uncheck the option to use your idle CPU for whatever it is.
Chromium: Also known as SRWare Iron, and Google Chrome, you should try one of these Chromium platform browsers. They’re fast, free, and relatively lightweight in comparison to newer versions of Firefox.
Firefox 2: Yes, Firefox 2.0 is outdated, but if you’re trying to get the most from your Intel Atom processor then it beats newer versions of Firefox, which are much more bloated. It does not display some websites properly, but for the most part, it displays sites perfectly well.
Foobar2000: This is far from my favorite music playing application out there, but it does a good job in its particular niche: no-frills, low memory usage music playback. It’s also incredibly advanced if you get into the tweaking side, but it can be very unforgiving if you do a poor job with it – to the point where you’d have to reinstall. If you decide to try Foobar, I’d suggest you don’t toy with it unless you’re absolutely certain of what you are doing.
i dnt know if its that lit eor not but VLCplayer is a godsend
The first thing you should get is security software.
For a free security suite that’s also pretty good with your system resources, go for:
Avira AntiVir Personal + Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (use this for on-demand scans) + Comodo Firewall
Thanks but i need more apps
also what OS should i install?
If you’re going to install a new operating system, then you might as well go for an incredibly lightweight option. If you’re prepared to try a whole new operating system I’d suggest going down the Linux route. There’s a very particular version of Linux that is meant to be incredibly fast. That OS is called Peppermint, and it has an interface similar to Windows, so you should feel right at home. Unix based operating systems are generally quite fast, but if you want to stick to Windows, download Windows XP. One of the uploaders here at , rajnusker, uploaded Windows XP SP3. It’s a safe download, and I’d recommend you use it seeing as the thread is extremely popular.
Look up some YouTube videos of other Linux distros if you’re prepared to go down that route though.
Firstly go to eeeuser.com and browse the forums, the place was set up around the really low powered first edition Eee’s.
http://www.eeeuser.com/
The best OS (IMO for compatability) is to create an nlite installation of Windows XP, example here:-

Also go to Blackviper to disable unnneeded services.
http://www.blackviper.com/
And runs autoruns to prevent unneeded startup programs

From there I would suggest going to portablefreeware for really lite apps
http://www.portablefreeware.com/
The best Firewall I have found is Zonealarm basic (10mb RAM in use) or PC Tools Firewall.
If you need any more let me know.

Try Joicloud, netbook OS and has loads of apps built in, and more you can install. http://www.jolicloud.com/
If you got Windows installed you can use it on Chrome aswell.
Thanks for all the help.
