Linked VLC to all my shortcuts
July 25th, 2016
I wouldn’t consider myself a computer-noob, but this one baffled me. I tried to set up program defaults, nothing helps. I can uninstall VLC, install it again and be all back to square one. Any suggestions? Running Windows 7 Prof.
Eh no one knows how to fix this yet? Let me try to be more descriptive. Whenever I press a shortcut, it launches VLC. Of course it doesn’t play anything, and it says: VLC – now playing shortcut.ink

right click/open with/windows media or whatever, then click the option to associate all files to that program? Or in VLC go Tools/Preferences/Interface/Sroll down to Instances/File Associations/Association Setup then just unclick all the formats u dont want assoc wit VLC
waht do you mean a shortcut on ur desktop? try running the original file? what do you mean exactly?
It is ANY type of shortcut. Be it in Start menu, desktop, whatever… It shows up as a VLC icon and launches in VLC.
its probably not a multimedia file. VLC can open lots of different types of file that are no even media files. you are probably opening a file that isnt suppose to open with VLC. Right click on the shortcut or what ever it is and click on properties and you should see “Type of file” and “Open With : Name of a program”
