Laptop Crash
August 6th, 2013
Have a serious laptop problem. I’m unable to boot up…can’t even start up in Safe Mode, Last Known Good Config etc.
OS is XP.
Anyone got any ideas…Please!
Thinking about installing XP again but I’m sure this will delete all docs/files I have.? Is this correct?
If I do reinstal, anyone recommend what version e.g Black? Anyone know what a bootable USB version is and why I should download this type?
Thanks to those who reply.
save your document which drive? if C drive then leave this drive install xp again other drive. or u can repair XP.

Thanks for the quick reply…
All docs/files are on the C Drive. Hard drive was not partitioned.
What’s worse is that I don’t have to original XP Instal CD.
Windows tries to boot up but just goes into the Safe Mode/Last known good config screen.
I am able to get into the BIOS setup though.

If you Able to get into bios then Chose 1st Boot device CD/DVD Rom. But Must need XP CD. (i have no idea install with usb device)
Looks like I’ll need to download another XP copy and lose everything then.
Happy New Year to you and thanks again.
well now Check this image. you install another XP when got this step chose this one
Yes do as Leader says above.
Other than that, if you have the tools and the “know how” you could take your HDD out of the laptop, and connect it up to a desktop pc, backup your important docs, put the hdd back into the laptop, and then choose the “Format the partition using the NTFS file system (Quick)”, and then continue with a fresh installation of Windows.
Personally, as I have the tools and know how, that is what I would do… but this is down to experience. Some people would disagree, and have their own methods, but this one works for me.
Thanks folks….really appreciated.
TinyXP rev09 has a “XP repair install” (9 – TinyXP With Repair Option (Product Key Already Filled In))option that will return your system to it’s previous state
before you do anything tho you should check your harddrive to be sure it’s healthy
TinyXP rev09 has Hiren’s BootCD v9.5 on it with HDD checking apps
