Itouch help

my itunes will not download any software to update my ipod. i have to downlaod it from the intnernet, how do i fix that.
also it says my ipod isnt capible to download the 3.1 firmware either, i got 3.0 to work on it.
help anyone?

Which os do you have + Which version of your itune do you have ?

Whats wrong with downloading the firmware update from the internet? It’s the same thing.

i have xp sp2.
its hard to find a ispw file and not a zip file.

Hang on, I’m struggling to figure out what the problem is.
Plug your iPod into your PC and open iTunes.
Click on your iPod in the devices menu.
Click ‘Check for update’.
What happens then?
Also, iTunes version would be helpful; click ‘Help -> About iTunes’ and it should tell you

uit downloads the firmware all the way cep for like .1 of it, then it stops and says connection timeout failure.

these dont work for me, their all in zip files and you need .ispw files.
unless im doing something wrong there idk. ive renmed the files to end in ipsw and itunes had not reconigized them

You don’t rename the zip files, you extract them – contained inside them there should be the .ispw files

You should download the latest ones, 3.1.2.
They are on apples servers, it goes really quick, and IS in ipsw format.

i have changed the file names to .ipsw it says “not compatible” when i click restore and shift or whatever.

got it fixed. i removed all my itunes and quicktime ~love~ off my comp then reinstalled itunes and it downlaoded 3.1.2 perfectly fine. thx for your helps

I was gonna say re install itunes and quicktime – but you figured it out on your own :p

i reinstalled i tunes before but it didnt help with anything, i just removed everything that was apple related on my comp.
