Is downloading Pirated contents through HTTPS links SAFE IN USA?

I have recently moved to USA and I know this country is very strict against piracy. I am concerned how safe it is to download pirated movies, games, etc from HTTP and HTTPs links. Are there any chances of getting caught?
Please also let me know how safe is the downloading from MEGA.NZ using their “download through browser” option. I believe it is encrypted form, so currently I am downloading only from MEGA.NZ
The INTERNET connection is on my name and I live with 3 roommates. So, I am very concerned as they download without much care.

By and large the story is much the same around the world. There is always a small chance that you will have trouble, but that is usually due to lots of torrent seeding, or uploading and disemination of upload links. If you keep a low profile the chances of trouble is negligable. Honestly speaking … sharing an internet service that you are solely responsible for is always a bad idea. If one your roommates downloads some dodgey porn (CP or extreme S&M both illegal in US), or decides to join a DDoS raid ( using LOIC) you will possibly end up under the microscope rather than them !

Well, me and all my roomates have agreed to not to use torrent for pirated contents. We r just using HTTPs links.

I always use a vpn provider, but thats just me…everybody is being flagged. Remember almost everything you download is piracy in some shape or form.
